Squidsoup‘s work combines sound, physical space and virtual worlds to produce immersive and emotive headspaces. They explore the modes and effects of interactivity, looking to make digital experiences where meaningful and creative interaction can occur.
Anthony Rowe (founder of Squidsoup in 1997) and Chris Bennewith will be talking primarily about their latest project, Ocean of Light. The project explores the creative and immersive possibilities of light-based visualisations that occupy physical space, using bespoke hardware to create dynamic, interactive and 3D sculptures from light.
Squidsoup’s work has been shown at numerous festivals, seminars and galleries around the world including Ars Electronica Festival and Museum (Linz Austria), Siggraph (LA), Kinetica Art Fair (London), ISEA (Belfast and Nagoya), Late at the V&A (London), Late at Tate Britain (London), and SONAR (Barcelona).
Rowe is Associate Professor of Interaction Design at Oslo School of Architecture and Design. Bennewith is Associate Professor at Massey University’s Institute of Communication Design.
