Squidsoup‘s work combines sound, physical space and virtual worlds to produce immersive and emotive headspaces. They explore the modes and effects of interactivity, looking to make digital experiences where meaningful and creative interaction can occur.
Anthony Rowe (founder of Squidsoup in 1997) will be talking about Squidsoup’s Ocean of Light project – an ongoing exploration of the creative and immersive possibilities of LED cubes – light-based visualisations that occupy physical space, using bespoke hardware to create dynamic, interactive and 3D sculptures from light. The talk will focus in particular on recent experiences developing immersive and interactive walkthrough experiences using a newly developed system of individually addressable LED strings, Ocean of Light 2.
Squidsoup’s work has been shown at numerous festivals, seminars and galleries around the world including Ars Electronica Festival and Museum (Linz Austria), Siggraph (LA), Kinetica Art Fair (London), ISEA (Belfast and Nagoya), Late at the V&A (London), Late at Tate Britain (London), and SONAR (Barcelona).
Anthony Rowe is a Research Fellow at Oslo School of Architecture and Design.
