Exhibition

Oslo Lux seminar was followed by the exhibition opening  at Oslo School of Architecture and Design – AHO. This year’s exhibition featured works by Eduardo Kac, Antony Evans, Koo Jeong A, Christine Istad & Lisa Pacini (Istadpacini ArtLab), Edith Isdal, Anthony Rowe & Natasha Barrett, Eduardo Mayoral Gonzalez and Svein Inge Bjørkhaug & Jianan Qu

GFP Bunny / Eduardo Kac
GFP Bunny is a transgenic artwork that comprises the creation of a green fluorescent rabbit (“Alba”), the public dialogue generated by the project, and the social integration of the rabbit. Kac combined jellyfish and rabbit DNA to produce a bunny that glows green under blue light. http://www.ekac.org/

OTRO – Skatepark Pavilion / Koo Jeong A
Koo’s most recent project is a skatepark pavilion in collaboration with L’Escault Architectures and is located on Vassivière Island, France – it’s glow-in-the-dark eliminating the complications of an evening skate session. It is the first of a series. http://www.koojeonga.com/

.

Glowing Plant / Antony Evans
Glowing plant is made using the tools of synthetic biology, using a design print transform cycle. DNA sequences are designed on a computer using special Biocad software, then the DNA is made using DNA laser printing before using a Gene Gun to insert the DNA into the plant. http://www.glowingplant.com/

.

Traveling Sun / Christine Istad & Lisa Pacini (IstadPacini ArtLab)
Traveling Sun is a road trip and a site specific art project made by the artists Christine Istad and Lisa Pacini who wanted to bring the ‘SUN’ from Oslo to Tromsø, north of Norway as a gesture.  http://www.artubeart.blogspot.no/

natashaWe Are Not Alone / Anthony Rowe & Natasha Barrett
What at first is considered as a single volume of beguiling glowing liquid is in fact a vast colony of living organisms; bioluminescent bacteria (Photobacterium phosphoreum) have been breeding in the sphere resulting in billions of living, communicating beings. http://www.squidsoup.org/blog/ http://www.natashabarrett.org/

.
Living Light / Edith Isdal
Living Light is an audiovisual installation exploring and combining the fields of biology, design and art – incorporating the monocellular algae Dinoflagella Pyrocystis Fusformis which demonstrates bioluminescense. http://eiid.no/experiment/

.

Bioluminescent Devices / Eduardo Mayoral Gonzalez
The project seeks to design and fabricate glowing devices that do not consume electricity through the manipulation of bioluminescent populations of micro-organisms. To achieve this goal, two different species are tested. https://eduardomayoral.wordpress.com/

Archipelago / Svein Inge Bjørkhaug & Jianan Qu
In an attempt of sculpting utopia, Archipelago is a mixed media installation created to explore the materiality of Aluminate. In a blitz of lights the surface changes from white to a range of colors. It creates a surface of glow which leaves a message that is fading out. Instagram your version of utopia #archipelago #utopia  #oslolux
